Artist: Ante Antunovic - Lesic
Ante Antunovic - Lesic was born on August 2, 1939 in Kijevo, Croatia. There, he spent most of his childhood and completed elementary school. When he was 11 years old, he left his hometown and moved to Croatia's capital city, Zagreb, where he attended junior high school. From there, he continued on to high school in the town of Virovitica and graduated in 1955. Following graduation, Ante returned to Zagreb and enrolled in and industrial technical school.
In 1958, Ante decided to leave Croatia and immigrated to Canada to start a new life. He currently resides in Surrey, British Columbia where he is enjoying his retirement by working on his artwork. From a very young age, he was always drawn to art, and his natural talents helped him to become the artist he is today. In addition to art, Ante is also a seasoned musician, specializing in percussion instruments.
As both an accomplished artist and musician, his dream of having an art exhibition in his homeland came to fruition in September 2014, where many of his paintings were on public display at the Hrvatska Matica Iseljenika (Croatian Heritage Foundation).
